Sun Alarm is an iPhone alarm clock that wakes you at sunrise instead of a fixed time. It looks up the sunrise (or dawn) time for where you are, or for a city you pick, and re-schedules the alarm each day as sunrise moves.

Common questions

Do I have to give the app my location?

No. You can search for a city instead, and the app will use that city's coordinates for every sunrise lookup. If you do grant location, the app asks iOS for a deliberately coarse fix — accurate to about a kilometer — because that's all a sunrise time needs.

Where do the sunrise times come from?

Apple's WeatherKit service. The app sends it the coordinates the alarm is based on and gets back sunrise, dawn, and twilight times. It is not operated by the developer.

How does the alarm know tomorrow's sunrise?

The app schedules a rolling buffer of alarms several days out and tops it up whenever you open the app or dismiss an alarm.

How do I delete my data?

Delete the app. Everything Sun Alarm stores lives on your device and goes with it. There is no account to close and no server of the developer's holding anything of yours.
